Prof(Dr) A.D.Sawant, a well known Inorganic, Nuclear, Analytical and Environmental Chemistry scientist has prolific teaching and research career , culminating into an award of 26 PhD. degrees to his scholars and over 150 publications in National and International Journals of repute with High Impact Factor and an Article in Encyclopedia of Analytical Science , published by Cambridge University.Executed several research Projects including one from IAEA, Vienna.His path breaking research in environmental science brought out the dreaded lead poisoning cases in Maharashtra, Dadra Nagar Haveli as well as exposure of traffic police to leaded petrol , facilitating the policy of introduction of unleaded petrol in India.He is known as pollution crusader and have handled many cases of industrial pollution.

A keen practicing  environmentalist, he is Globally recognized for his work and received many awards.His great networking for applications of science to society, has earned  him reputed positions in social sphere like, President of Society for Clean Environment (SOCLEEN), President of Mumbai Rose Society, Vice President of National Society of Friends of Trees.
Due to his academic and administrative  exactness, he was roped into by Govt as Joint Director of Higher Education, Pro Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University and finally as Vice Chancellor of University of Rajasthan. In all these academic administrative  positions he brought several reforms in administrations of Higher Education like contributing to writing Private University Act, Law University Act, Amendments to Maharashtra University Act.and Professional courses fees Regulations and admission processes.
He is currently the Director of Waste to Energy Research and Technology Council -India, a Columbia University venture of Global WTERT , engaged in establishing the technologies for converting waste into Energy.
